The Keowee Brewing family started years ago when Alex and Allison met at Dorman High School in Spartanburg, SC. After high school, Alex and Allison remained friends while they both attended Clemson University. Upon graduating from Clemson with a degree in Food Science, Allison took a job in the dairy industry in Plymouth, Wisconsin. Not long after, Alex followed his heart and Allison to Wisconsin. While there, Alex continued homebrewing and pursued his love of beer. He began a career with 3 Sheeps Brewing Company in Sheboygan, WI. He started as a keg washer and within his time with 3 Sheeps, became head brewer.

During this time, Alex lost his Grandfather Robert (Papa Bob) - their last grandparent. Both he and Allison realized that their hearts would always long to be back home, in South Carolina with their families. The search began for a building where Alex could follow his dream and open a brewery of his own. On October 31, 2017, with the unending support of Allison and their families, Keowee Brewing was born with the purchase of their building in Seneca, SC. They were going home! Adding to the excitement and the family, Allison and Alex found out, 3 days after the building was purchased, that they were expecting their first child.

Liam Robert (named after Allison’s family and Alex’s grandfather) was born on July 19, 2018. A year later, on June 29, 2019, Keowee Brewing Company officially opened its doors.

David, the bar manager, is Allison’s younger brother. He’s been bar tending in the craft beer industry for a while now and is always happy to meet you and pour you some delicious beer! There is always a variety of great beer, brewed on site and additional alcoholic and non-alcoholic options to suit every taste.

The love that Alex and Allison have for their family, friends and community is evident the moment you walk into their space. KBC is warm and welcoming to all.
